Protecting the youth is one of the most important concerns of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouting provides a safe environment for youth, and in order to ensure that continues a new policy has been been issued by the National Boy Scout Office. Every Rolling Hills Pack, Troop or Crew should begin thinking of plan to make sure every adult in your unit is Youth Protection Trained. The Rolling Hills District will be offering support throughout the year with more opportunities to train leaders. Please read the following attachments for more information and let me know if you have questions.

Effective June 1, 2010:

Youth Protection Training is required for all registered volunteers.

New leaders are required to take Youth Protection Training before they submit their application for registration. The certificate of completion for this training must be submitted at the time application is made and before volunteer service with youth begins.

Youth Protection Training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer’s Youth Protection Training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be reregistered.

Rolling Hills Leaders,

The attached snapshot shows you two-thirds of the 11,508 Scouts and leaders who attended StarCamp. These Scouts were gathered for the evening show which featured a performance from our own Scouts followed by an 80’s-music rock band and fireworks. It was a terrific weekend with excellent feedback on the program and “super event” experience.
